Latest Orlando International Airport News: October 2026
MCO is investing in airport infrastructure, passenger facilities and additional capacity. The following updates are particularly relevant to travelers.
1. Gate Link tram upgrade began passenger service
On October 1, 2026, MCO introduced upgraded Gate Link tram service on one track serving Gates 100–129. The work is part of a $253 million Gate Link replacement project within the airport’s wider capital improvement program.
The project includes new tram vehicles and upgrades to running surfaces, power distribution, controls, communications and operating systems. Each new set of cars can carry up to 240 passengers.
The work will continue in phases, including upgrades to the second track serving Gates 100–129 and the Gate Link serving Gates 70–99. Passengers should follow current signs and allow time for transfers between the main terminal and gate areas.
Official project information: MCO Gate Link upgrade announcement.
2. Terminal C expansion added gate capacity
MCO opened a new Terminal C wing in 2026, with expansion gates numbered 250–254. The gates use a Multiple Aircraft Ramp System (MARS) design, allowing flexible aircraft positions for domestic and international operations.
The expansion is intended to help MCO handle passenger growth and improve the flow of travelers through checkpoints, concessions and baggage claim. Terminal C is also connected to the airport’s intermodal train station.
The exact gate used for your flight can vary. Check your boarding pass and airline app rather than assuming that all flights operated by one airline always use the same gate.
Official information: MCO Terminal C expansion.
3. Virgin Atlantic moved to Terminal C
Virgin Atlantic moved its Orlando International Airport operations from Terminal A to Terminal C beginning June 30, 2026.
If you are flying with Virgin Atlantic, confirm your terminal and check-in details before leaving for the airport. Passengers who have used MCO previously should not rely on an old terminal assignment.
4. Family Zones are present in all three terminals
In August 2026, MCO added more Family Zones, completing its work to create dedicated family zones in Terminal A, B and C.
They are places where families can take a breath before they get on board. Their locations and available amenities may differ, so consult the airport map for your terminal.
5. Parking guidance technology is being introduced
MCO’s parking improvement program includes technology intended to show drivers how many spaces are available and where they are located within parking garages. The airport’s October 2026 update said Parking Garage C would activate the system later in the fall, with Garages A and B planned to follow early in 2027.
These are project schedules, not a guarantee that the system will be active in every garage when you arrive. Check the airport’s latest parking information before your trip.
6. Terminal A and B renovations are planned
The airport’s capital improvement program includes refreshed interiors, lighting, seating, restrooms and other passenger facilities in older parts of the airport. Some work is planned over multiple years.
Construction may affect the route you take through a terminal. Follow temporary signs and allow extra time if your journey involves check-in, security, a tram transfer or a long walk to your gate.
7. New and returning flight routes in October and November 2026
MCO’s official air-service update lists several new or returning routes. The airport’s published schedule includes:

Orlando Airport Terminals A, B and C: What Travelers Need to Know
MCO has three passenger terminals. The correct terminal depends on your airline and flight, so always confirm the terminal before traveling.
Terminal A
Terminal A has airline check-in facilities, baggage claim, access to ground transportation, rental-car services and passenger amenities.
The airport’s current map lists check-in on Level 3, baggage claim on Level 2 and several ground-transportation services on Level 1. Facilities include a service-animal relief area, a Starbucks location, rental-car services, shuttles, taxis and bus connections.
Some airline operations and gate assignments can change. Use the official Terminal A and B map to plan your route.
Terminal B
Terminal B also has airline check-in, baggage claim, ground transportation, rental-car access and passenger facilities.
The airport map lists baggage claim carousels 20–32 on Level 2, along with a nursing pod and TSA PreCheck enrollment facilities in designated areas. Level 1 has transportation options and other services.
Do not assume that a flight arriving at Terminal B will depart from the same area. Confirm your connecting flight and follow airport signage.
Terminal C
Terminal C is MCO’s newer terminal, opened in 2022 and expanded in 2026. It has airline check-in, baggage claim, customs and immigration facilities, dining and shopping, nursing rooms, rental-car access and connections to the intermodal train station.
The airport map lists airline check-in on Level 2 and baggage claim and customs and immigration on Level 6. Ground transportation and other facilities are spread across different levels.
Terminal C serves domestic and international operations. Its airline and gate assignments can change, so confirm your flight details before leaving home.
Getting between terminals
MCO’s terminal and gate connections use different transport systems depending on where you are traveling. The Gate Link serves certain airside gate areas, while the Terminal Link connects the main terminal complex and Terminal C area.
These systems are not interchangeable. Check your terminal map, follow airport signs and allow time for any required security screening or transfer.

Use the official MCO airline directory for current airline websites, listed terminal/checkpoint information and contact details. The airline is the best source for flight status, ticket conditions and booking changes.
View Orlando Airport Arrivals and Departures
If you’re picking someone up at MCO, or flying out of Orlando, check your flight status before you head out.
- Check your ticket or reservation confirmation for the airline and flight number.
- Go to the airline’s official flight status website or app.
- Check for any terminal, gate or schedule changes.
- For arrivals, confirm whether the flight is on time, delayed or canceled before driving to the airport.
- For departures, follow the airline’s check-in and airport-arrival recommendations.
Airport-wide information is useful, but a flight’s status can change independently. Do not rely on an old search result, a screenshot or a general airport schedule for real-time decisions.
TSA Security and MCO Reserve
Security wait times at Orlando International Airport vary by checkpoint, time of day, passenger volume and airport operations. An estimate available now may not reflect conditions when you arrive.
To prepare:
- Check current airport security information before traveling.
- Check out the TSA rules for liquids, carry-on stuff and stuff you can’t bring.
- Have your identification and boarding information accessible.
- Allow enough time for check-in, baggage drop, screening and reaching your gate.
- Check whether MCO Reserve is available for your travel time and checkpoint.
MCO Reserve is a reservation option for eligible security-screening time slots when available. A reservation does not replace TSA screening or guarantee a particular wait time. TSA PreCheck eligibility and checkpoint availability should also be confirmed before travel.
For current details, use the official MCO website and TSA travel information.
Orlando Airport Parking Garages, Tips, and Reservations
MCO provides parking garages and surface lots, with facilities for various terminal areas. Parking rates, availability, reservation options and access arrangements may change.
Before driving to the airport, check:
- Which parking facility best serves your terminal.
- Whether reservations are available for your travel dates.
- Current daily rates and any applicable fees.
- Whether a shuttle or terminal connection is needed.
- Any construction notices or temporary access changes.
Parking Garage C is adjacent to the intermodal terminal facility. The airport’s parking guidance project is intended to make it easier to locate available spaces, with the rollout planned in stages.
Use the airport’s current parking and transportation information rather than relying on old price lists.
Rental Cars and Ground Transportation
Travelers arriving at MCO can choose from airport and off-airport rental-car providers, taxis, rideshare services, buses, shuttles and other ground-transportation options.
The correct pickup point depends on your terminal and provider. Confirm the pickup location, operating hours, luggage policy and any additional charges before booking.
Brightline and the train station
MCO’s intermodal terminal facility connects with Brightline passenger rail service. The train station also provides access to Terminal C and the Terminal Link serving Terminals A and B.
Passengers connecting from a flight to a train should allow time for baggage collection, walking, terminal transfers and any required check-in or boarding procedures.
Rideshare, taxis and buses
The airport maps list designated ground-transportation areas for rideshare, taxis, buses, shuttles and other services. Pickup areas can differ by terminal and time.
Follow airport signs and your transportation provider’s instructions rather than meeting a driver at an assumed curbside location.
Orlando Airport Lounges, Restaurants and Passenger Facilities
MCO has a range of dining, shopping and passenger amenities across its terminals. The exact options available depend on the terminal and airside area.
Food and shopping
The airport lists coffee shops, restaurants, convenience shops, newsstands and other retail options across the terminal complex. Some facilities are located after security, meaning access may depend on your departure area.
Before making a special trip to a restaurant or shop, confirm its location and current opening hours through the airport’s official directory.
Lounges
Lounge access rules vary by lounge and may depend on airline, ticket class, membership, eligible credit card or a paid entry option. Not every passenger can access every lounge.
Check the lounge operator’s own website for eligibility, hours, guest policies and current access terms before relying on it for a layover.
Family and accessibility facilities
MCO’s official terminal maps identify services such as nursing rooms or pods, service-animal relief areas, family zones, lost and found, and designated assistance facilities. Availability and locations differ by terminal.
Passengers who need wheelchair assistance or other accommodations should contact their airline in advance and confirm the arrangements for both departure and arrival.
Lost baggage and lost property
If checked baggage is missing or damaged, contact the airline operating your flight and follow its baggage-claim procedure. For items left in airport facilities, check MCO’s official lost-and-found guidance.
The responsible party may differ depending on whether the item was lost on an aircraft, at a checkpoint, in a terminal or in a ground-transportation facility.
International Arrivals at MCO
International passengers may need to complete immigration and customs procedures before continuing to a domestic connection or leaving the airport.
Allow time for passport checks, baggage collection, customs, terminal navigation and any onward check-in requirements. Procedures will vary depending on your itinerary, nationality, travel documents and applicable government rules.
If you have a connecting flight, confirm whether your checked baggage is tagged through to the final destination and whether you need to collect and recheck it. Do not assume that every international-to-domestic connection follows the same process.
For immigration and entry requirements, use official U.S. government guidance and your airline’s instructions.
Flight Booking, Cancellation and Date Changes: What Passengers Should Know
Airport information and airline ticket assistance are different services. MCO operates airport facilities; airlines and ticketing providers control their reservations, schedules, ticket rules and many refund or change decisions.
Before booking or changing a flight, review:
- The total price of the ticket plus any service fee.
- Allowance of baggage and charges for excess baggage.
- Change and Cancelation Fees.
- Fare, refundable or non-refundable.
- Rules for Correction of Name and Re-Issuance of Tickets.
- The deadline for making a change.
- Whether the request must be handled by the airline or original booking provider.
A name correction is not always the same as changing a passenger to another person. Likewise, a cancellation does not automatically mean a full refund. The applicable fare conditions and airline policy determine what is possible.
